What this does
New contact creates one CRM record. Use it when you need a place for a person's details and follow-up work, rather than importing a whole spreadsheet.
Before you start
- Select the correct workspace and open Contacts.
- You need a role other than viewer to see New contact.
- Prepare a Name and the Required contact details stated at the top of the dialog. Your workspace can require Phone, Email, Phone and email, or Phone or email.
Add the record
- Click New contact. The dialog explains which contact details are required.
- Fill in Name, then Phone and/or Email as required. Leaving the phone or email field runs a duplicate check.
- Choose Stage. Only nonterminal stages are offered when creating a contact. The initial selection is the first such stage, or the stage from which you opened the add action.
- If you are an owner or admin in a team workspace, choose Owner. The list excludes viewers and initially selects you.
- Optionally choose How they found us and fill in Source details. Leaving the source unselected records it as unknown.
- Optionally fill in Upcoming task and Due together. To save without a task, leave both empty. The task text supports up to 200 characters.
- In Nadlanite, Contact roles also lets you choose Buyer, Seller, or both. Role details are optional; see seller properties for the property workflow.
- Click Save. The list refreshes. A contact saved in the first active stage opens its contact panel; one saved in a later active stage opens the communication-logging flow.
Duplicate and identity rules
Saving is unavailable while duplicate checking is running or an existing match is shown. Click the Exists: match to open the existing record instead of creating another. In a team, a restricted match may identify its owner rather than reveal the person's details.
A name containing only spaces is not valid. The name limit is 120 characters. An email must be valid when supplied. Changing the workspace's required-details setting is an owner/admin action under Contact settings → Columns → Required contact details; it does not make blank mandatory fields acceptable in this dialog.
If something goes wrong
| Symptom | What to check | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| Missing: appears | Name, required identity details or stage is absent | Complete the listed fields and save again. |
| The upcoming-task warning appears | Only task text or only its date is filled | Complete both, or clear both. |
| Save is disabled | A duplicate check is pending or a match exists | Wait for the result, then open the existing record or correct the entered details. |
| A required phone/email error appears after saving | The workspace requirement may have changed | Follow the requirement in the error and supply the missing detail. |
| New contact is missing | Your role may be viewer | Ask a workspace owner/admin about your role. |
