# Lead forms, lead destinations and booking

Edit form fields, decide whether submissions create contacts, choose an audience and configure notifications, replies and booking entry points.

## What this is for

A lead form collects inquiries on your site. Its field editor controls what visitors fill in; **Where leads go** controls how submissions are stored. Booking is a separate visitor action that requires a booking link configured in Calendar.

## Before you start

You need edit access to the site and a page containing a lead form. In **Manual edit**, select the form to open **Form fields** and the lead settings. If Sites is missing from the menu, it isn't enabled for your workspace yet.

## Edit the form

1. Select the form in **Manual edit**. The editor lists its fields.
2. Change **Field label** where needed. Name and phone are always required: their required setting cannot be turned off and those fields cannot be removed.
3. Choose **Add field** to add **Email**, **Message**, **Custom text** or **Custom choice**. Email and message are offered only when not already present.
4. For a custom choice, enter **Choices (one per line)**. Mark optional fields **Required** if visitors must answer them.
5. Use **Move up**, **Move down** or **Remove** to arrange editable fields.
6. Set **Submit button** and **Consent text**. Check that the wording matches what you actually do with the inquiry.
7. Preview the form and check its readability on desktop and phone. An editor preview submission shows **Form preview complete. No lead was sent.** It is not a real lead test.

## Choose where submissions go

1. In **Where leads go**, choose **Contact + audience** to save contacts as well as audience entries, or **Audience only** if you do not want the submission to create a contact.
2. Choose the **Audience**. **Automatic: …** uses the site's automatic audience; an available existing audience can also be selected. The site owner can use **New audience…** to create one.
3. The routing selection saves immediately. Confirm **Saved** or resolve a displayed error; the rest of the lead settings have a separate **Save** button.
4. To review contact records, open [Contacts and CRM](https://docs.lead-knight.com/en/contacts/overview/). With **Audience only**, look in [Audiences](https://docs.lead-knight.com/en/audiences/overview/) instead of expecting a contact record.

If the chosen audience is no longer available to the owner, the interface warns that new leads go to the automatic audience. An audience the owner cannot manage must be replaced with a manageable choice.

## Notifications, reply and after-submit behavior

1. Under **Notifications**, choose **WhatsApp**, **In-app** and/or **Email** as desired.
2. Enable **Automatic reply** only when available. It requires the site owner's Gmail sender with send permission. If unavailable, follow **Connect Gmail** where offered or ask the owner to connect their sender.
3. Fill **Subject** and **Message** for the reply. Both are required when enabled; the subject allows up to 120 characters and the message up to 2,000.
4. Under **After submitting**, choose **Thank-you page** or **Redirect URL**. A redirect must be a valid HTTPS address.
5. Click **Save** and check **Saved**. A disabled save button or validation message means the settings need correction before saving.

Enabling an option is not evidence that a notification or email was delivered. Check the relevant connection and any reported error if delivery is missing.

## Add booking or a contact action

1. Configure a booking link in [Calendar](https://docs.lead-knight.com/en/calendar/overview/) before adding a booking section.
2. Return to the site editor and add the booking section, or edit a button and choose **Book a meeting**.
3. Check the destination in preview, then [publish the changes](https://docs.lead-knight.com/en/sites/review-and-publish/).

For a contact button, the page needs a form or the site needs a phone/WhatsApp number. A WhatsApp section specifically needs a WhatsApp number in site settings. Do not assume that changing lead-form routing also changes Calendar booking settings.

## If something goes wrong

| Symptom | Cause and fix |
|---|---|
| A field cannot be removed | Name and phone are protected required fields. Change their labels if necessary. |
| Contact record missing | Check whether **Audience only** was selected, then inspect the chosen audience. |
| Audience unavailable | Choose an audience the site owner can manage, or the automatic audience. |
| Automatic reply is disabled | Gmail is disabled or the owner's sender lacks the required connection/send permission. |
| Settings do not save | Check reply subject/message and the HTTPS redirect, then **Save** again. |
| Booking section cannot be added | Set up the booking link in Calendar first. |
