# Sign-in methods and notifications

Check how you sign in, set or change a password, and choose email or WhatsApp delivery for your notifications.

## What this is for

Under **Settings** → **Account preferences**, **Sign-in methods** shows your signed-in email and lets you add or change a password. If Google is linked, the card shows **Google — connected**. Adding a password does not remove that Google sign-in method.

The separate **Notifications** card controls additional delivery of CRM bell notifications by email and WhatsApp. It does not create a WhatsApp marketing campaign or send a message to your customers.

## Before you start

- Use your own signed-in account. The email shown in **Sign-in methods** is the account whose password you will change.
- Have access to that email inbox. A security confirmation may be required.
- If your account uses an authenticator app, keep it available for the requested verification.
- WhatsApp notifications need both an available WhatsApp notification service and a paired WhatsApp account.

## Set or change a password

1. Open **Settings** → **Account preferences** → **Sign-in methods**. Check the email address shown.
2. Select **Set or change password**. The form repeats **Setting a password for** and the target email.
3. Enter **New password**, using 8–200 characters with an uppercase letter, a lowercase letter and a number.
4. Enter the same value in **Confirm password**.
5. Select **Save password**. If no further verification is needed, the card returns to its normal view and confirms that the password was saved for that email.
6. If **For your security, confirm it’s you** appears, select **Email me a code**. After the email arrives, enter its six-digit **Confirmation code** and select **Save password** again.
7. If asked for **Authenticator app code**, enter the current six-digit code from your authenticator app and save again.

The saved message explains that you can sign in with the displayed email and the new password. If Google is connected, it also remains an option. **Cancel** closes the password editor without submitting a new password.

## Security confirmations and recovery

- **Send a new code** requests a replacement email code. Wait while the retry countdown is shown; repeated clicks do not bypass it.
- **That code has expired — send a new one.** means the old code cannot finish the change. Request a fresh one and use the new email.
- If the signed-in account changes while editing, the form stops the change and offers **Sign in again**. Check the account before starting again.
- These controls are for an account you can already access. For a forgotten password, use the sign-in recovery flow described in [Your account](https://docs.lead-knight.com/en/account/overview/).

## Choose notification delivery

1. Stay under **Account preferences** and find **Notifications**.
2. Turn on **Email notifications** to receive bell notifications by email as well. Turning it off leaves the in-app notification channel.
3. Check **WhatsApp notifications**. When available and paired, turn it on to receive short WhatsApp notifications with action buttons.
4. If WhatsApp is available but not connected, select **Connect WhatsApp**. This opens **Connections**; complete the assistant WhatsApp connection there, then return to settings.
5. Wait for each change to finish saving before changing another switch. No separate save button is needed.

The two notification switches are independent. A disabled switch with **Email is not available right now** or **WhatsApp isn't available right now** indicates service availability, not that clicking elsewhere has enabled delivery.

For assistant-initiated meeting reminders, idle-contact alerts, morning briefings and quiet hours, use **WhatsApp messages from your assistant** under **Assistant** instead. Those controls are separate from the notification-delivery card.

## If something goes wrong

- Sign-in methods fail to load: select **Retry**. If needed, **Sign out and try again** signs out locally so you can sign in again; do not use it while depending on an unsaved password form.
- Passwords do not match: re-enter both values identically and follow the displayed character requirements.
- An email code does not arrive: check the displayed target address and spam folder; use the resend control after its countdown.
- A save fails: the app has not confirmed the password change. Check the connection and retry; do not assume the new password is active.
- WhatsApp notifications cannot be enabled: check the pairing and service availability. Follow **Connect WhatsApp** only if offered.
- A notification change fails: the switch returns to its previous value and shows a save error. Try again after checking the connection.

1. Your sign-in and notification choices are in Settings.
2. Sign-in methods shows the email and accounts you sign in with, like Google.
3. To also sign in with a password, click Set or change password.
4. Notifications decide where alerts reach you, besides the bell.
5. Turn email notifications off if you only want them in the app.
6. WhatsApp alerts need a connected WhatsApp number first.
