# Sign in or reset your password

Use Google or your email and password to sign in, or request and complete a password reset safely.

Canonical: https://docs.lead-knight.com/en/getting-started/sign-in/

## Before you start

Use the account you registered with. If you created the account through Google and have not added a password, use **Continue with Google**. Setting an app password later is separate from changing your Google password.

1. Open the login page. You see **Welcome back**.
1. Choose **Continue with Google** and complete the provider screen, or enter **Email** and **Password**.
1. Complete the human-verification check if shown and choose **Sign in**. The app resumes access to your workspace or asks you to finish setup.
1. If you entered through an invitation, continue with that invitation rather than creating an unrelated workspace.

## Reset a forgotten password

1. Choose **Forgot password?**, or open the password-reset page. The screen changes to **Reset your password**.
1. Enter your email and choose **Send reset link**. The confirmation explains that, if an account exists, you should look in your inbox or spam. It is not proof that this address is registered.
1. Open the latest reset email and its link. Choose **Continue** on the reset screen to open the password form.
1. Check which identity the form is for. Enter **New password** and **Confirm password**, following the displayed requirements: 8–200 characters including an uppercase letter, a lowercase letter and a number.
1. Choose **Save password**. If identity confirmation is requested, follow the email-code or authenticator instructions shown.
1. After the saved-password confirmation, choose **Back to sign in** and sign in with your email and new password. Saving the password does not silently sign you into a different account.

## Options and recovery rules

- **Try another email** returns to the reset request if you used the wrong address.
- **Use another link** leaves the current reset attempt so you can use the correct one.
- A link that has expired or was already used requires **Send a new link**.
- Google remains a separate sign-in option when it is connected. For managing sign-in methods after login, see [Your account](https://docs.lead-knight.com/en/account/overview/) and [Settings](https://docs.lead-knight.com/en/settings/overview/).

## If something goes wrong

| Symptom | Next step |
|---|---|
| Incorrect email or password | Check the address and sign-in method; use reset rather than repeatedly guessing. |
| Email not confirmed | Open the registration confirmation message first. |
| No reset email | Check spam and the latest message; a recent request can be rate-limited. Wait before requesting another. |
| Link cannot open because of a connection error | Check your connection and retry; a network failure is not the same as an expired link. |
| Passwords do not match | Re-enter the same new password in both fields. |
| Your signed-in identity changed | Sign in again as the intended account before changing a password. |
