# Facebook Pages and posting identities

Distinguish a Facebook Page's social connection from a Page or person posting in groups, and choose the correct identity.

## Two different uses of a Page

A Page connected through the Facebook social-network sign-in publishes to the Page destination. A Page selected under your connected Facebook profile is an identity that can publish in eligible Facebook groups using that profile's connected device. Connecting one does not mean the other has been selected.

## Before you start

For a Page-feed connection, have a Facebook Page you manage and use [Connect social accounts](https://docs.lead-knight.com/en/channels/connect-social-accounts/). For group posting, connect your own Facebook login using [the extension](https://docs.lead-knight.com/en/extension/install-and-pair/) or [cloud sign-in](https://docs.lead-knight.com/en/cloud-phones/sign-in/). Keep access to the Page in Facebook.

## Choose identities for group posting

1. Open **Connections**, the Facebook-group connection's **Manage groups**, then select the relevant profile.
1. Open **Manage Pages**. During first setup, **Choose your Facebook identities** can open as part of the connection flow instead.
1. Wait for **Reading your Facebook Pages…**. Each available identity is labelled **Profile** or **Page**; inspect its name before selecting it.
1. Tick the person and/or Pages that should be available for posting. A Page marked **Connected through {name}** belongs to another member's connected login and cannot be selected through yours.
1. Press **Connect selected**. Use the resulting identity's tab for its groups and publishing settings, and select that identity when preparing the campaign.

**Facebook Pages don't use a personal-profile slot.** Enabling another personal profile is still subject to your allowance. It is possible to use the login to serve selected Pages without enabling that person as a posting identity.

## Refresh Pages from a cloud phone

Where the cloud controls are offered, a ready phone with an outdated identity list can show **Read Pages from the cloud phone**. Choose it and wait for the refreshed list; the UI warns that startup takes about 3–5 minutes. Review and save the identity selection afterwards.

If the phone has switched into a Page without a completed identity choice, **Choose who posts** must be completed before cloud posting continues.

## Rules and permissions

- Selecting a Page does not override a group's rules. Some groups do not permit Page posting; remove that group from the Page's campaign or check the group's requirements.
- Each selected identity has its own group list and publishing settings. The browser connection belongs to the Facebook login serving it.
- **Who can use** shares account access with selected workspace members. Selecting a Page is not the same as granting a teammate permission.

## If something goes wrong

| Symptom | What to do |
| --- | --- |
| **You need a Facebook Page** in social-network connection | Create a Page, or reconnect and tick the Page in Facebook's authorization settings. |
| Page list is stale | Open Facebook in the paired browser and retry; use the offered cloud refresh for a ready cloud connection. |
| **Page not available** | Check that the serving login still has access to that Page, then review **Manage Pages**. |
| Page connected through another member | Use that existing connection with permission, or ask the connector to manage it. Do not pair onto their personal profile. |
| Facebook account switched in Chrome | Switch Facebook back to the connected login. Posts for that profile wait while the browser is signed in as someone else. |
| Page cannot post in a group | Check the group's Page-posting rules or remove the destination; reconnecting cannot grant permission the group does not allow. |
