# Write and improve a post with AI

Use Create new, Improve or Discuss inside the post composer, then review the text before publishing.

## What this is for

The composer's **AI** menu helps write one post. It is different from creating a whole [campaign with AI](https://docs.lead-knight.com/en/campaigns/create-with-ai/): you keep control of this post's networks and publishing time.

## Before you start

Open the manual composer for a new campaign or [add a post](https://docs.lead-knight.com/en/campaigns/add-post/) to an existing one. To improve existing text, write or paste it into **Post content** first.

## Create new text

1. Open **AI** and choose **Create new**.
1. Under **What should the new post be about?**, describe the message, audience and facts to include.
1. Choose **Length**: **Short**, **Medium** or **Long**.
1. Choose whether to use **With variations**. Review the resulting alternatives rather than assuming every version says the same thing.
1. Press **Create post**. Check the proposed wording, especially names, prices and contact details.

## Improve or discuss a draft

1. For a direct rewrite, open **AI** and choose **Improve**.
1. For a conversation, choose **Discuss**. The panel shows **Your draft**.
1. Write a request in **What would you like to change or explore?**, then press **Send**.
1. Read the updated draft. Suggestions can update the composer; use **Undo** if the result is not right, or **Redo** to restore a change.
1. If you edited the draft while a suggestion was being prepared, the message **You edited the draft. Your text is safe.** protects your newer text. Review the suggestion and use **Apply suggestion** only if you want it.
1. Close the conversation and continue through media, networks, preview and scheduling. AI writing does not itself publish the post.

## Writing preferences and recovery

**Writing style** contains preferences learned when you close **Discuss**, or ones you add there. They apply only to your writing in the current workspace. Use **Prefer**, **Avoid**, **Add preference**, **Save** and **Delete** to keep them accurate. **Clear all** asks for confirmation.

If **Restore your unsaved draft?** appears, choose **Restore** to recover it or **Discard** to remove it. Review recovered text and media before publishing.

## If something goes wrong

| What you see | What it means | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| **AI writing is unavailable. Your text was not changed.** | The writing action is unavailable. | Keep editing manually; do not assume a rewrite was applied. |
| **Couldn’t complete that. Your draft is safe; try again.** | The request failed without replacing your draft. | Keep the draft and retry the request. |
| **The AI couldn’t create valid variations. Try again or turn off With variations.** | The alternatives could not be prepared correctly. | Retry or turn **With variations** off. |
| **You’ve used today’s assistant allowance.** | The daily allowance was reached. | Follow the reset time shown, or write manually. |
